Caption
Steps the font size down until the whole caption fits inside the text area. Turn it off if you would rather shorten the text yourself.

Alignment
Sizes are percentages of the shorter edge, so changing the image size does not mean re-tuning everything.
Preview
PNG keeps the sharp edges of the outlined text. JPEG is smaller but softens the outline slightly.
Good to know
- The classic meme look uses Impact, which is not installed on every system. If it is missing you get a substitute, so check the preview rather than assuming.
- Uppercase is on by default because that is the convention, but it is only a convention — mixed case often reads better for longer captions.
- Font size is a percentage of the shorter edge rather than a pixel value, so the same settings work on a wide or a tall image.
- Use images you own or that are licensed for reuse. Memes being widely shared does not make the source image yours.
About this tool
The classic two-line format: text across the top, text across the bottom, thick outline so it stays legible over whatever is behind it. It is a small tool, but the details are what make the difference between an image you can send and one that looks broken. The text is wrapped by measuring the actual rendered width, so mixed Chinese and English and long unbroken words all wrap correctly rather than running off the edge, and the auto-fit option shrinks the type until the whole block fits inside the area you have allowed for it. Everything is drawn on a canvas in your browser, with no upload and no watermark.
How to use it
- 1Drop an image. The canvas keeps its aspect ratio and is capped at 1600 pixels on the long edge, which is plenty for anything you would post.
- 2Type the caption in the top and bottom boxes. Each line break you type becomes a break in the caption, and long lines wrap on their own.
- 3Adjust the size, outline thickness and text area until it reads well, then export PNG. Use JPEG if the file size matters more than crisp edges.
Frequently asked questions
The font does not look like a real meme. Why?
The classic meme font is Impact. It ships with Windows and macOS but is missing on many Linux systems and some Android devices, and when it is missing the browser substitutes an ordinary sans-serif, which looks quite different. The tool stacks several narrow candidates after it so a substitute is as close as possible, but if the exact look matters you need the font installed locally. There is no way to license and embed Impact here, and pretending otherwise would just produce a different surprise on someone else's machine.
Why does the caption shrink when I paste something long?
That is the auto-fit option doing its job. Without it, a long caption keeps its font size and simply runs past the edge of the image, which is the most common way these tools produce something unusable. Auto-fit measures the wrapped block and steps the font size down until the whole thing fits inside the text area you set, so the caption is always fully visible. Turn it off if you deliberately want the type large and are happy to shorten the text yourself.
Can I use any image?
Technically yes, because nothing leaves your browser. Legally, no — an image you found online is almost always someone's copyright, and memes are not exempt from that even though they circulate freely. Images you took, images you made, and images explicitly licensed for reuse are fine. This tool cannot check any of that for you, so the responsibility is yours.
