Input

Result

Fill in the price and the quantity for at least two options to compare them.

Good to know

  • Weight, volume and item count are compared separately. There is no honest ranking between a price per kilogram and a price per litre.
  • Use one currency throughout the table. Mixing currencies produces a comparison that looks right and is not.

About this tool

Enter the price and the package size for each option and see the price per 100 grams, per 100 millilitres or per item. Supermarket shelf labels use different bases precisely so the comparison is hard, and the smaller pack frequently wins on price per unit even when it looks cheaper. Results are grouped by what is being measured, because a price per litre and a price per kilogram have no meaningful order between them.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter the price and the quantity for each option, and pick the unit it is sold in.
  2. 2Read the price per unit, sorted cheapest first within each group.
  3. 3Check which one carries the best-value marker — each group is compared only against its own units.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the results split into groups instead of one list?

Because weight, volume and item count cannot be ranked against each other. A single list would put a price per kilogram next to a price per litre and declare a winner, and that ranking would be meaningless — water is not more expensive than rice. Within a group, all the options measure the same thing, so the order does mean something.

What does the best-value marker mean exactly?

It marks the lowest price per unit in that group, and it only appears when there are at least two valid options to compare. It is not a recommendation: a slightly higher unit price is often worth paying for a pack size you will actually finish, or for a product that will not spoil before you use it.

Why is one of my rows not listed?

Because its unit price could not be computed — either the price or the quantity is missing or zero. Those rows are counted in the notice below the table rather than silently dropped, so you can see that something was left out and why.
