About this tool
Convert spreadsheets to JSON for a script, or turn API output back into CSV for a colleague. The parser follows the CSV rules properly, so fields containing commas, quotes or line breaks survive intact instead of silently shifting every column. Delimiters are detected automatically and you can override the guess.
How to use it
- 1Paste CSV, TSV or JSON into the editor and pick the direction.
- 2Set whether the first row holds column names, and choose the JSON shape you want.
- 3Copy or download the converted result.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my file break other converters?
Because naive converters split every line on the comma. A field like "Smith, John" or an address containing a line break then shifts every following column by one, and the damage is easy to miss. This tool parses with the proper CSV state machine, so quoted fields are kept exactly as they were.
Are numbers converted to number types?
No, and that is deliberate. Phone numbers, order IDs, postal codes and account numbers all start with insignificant zeros or exceed the safe integer range, and converting them silently changes the data. Everything comes out as a string so nothing is quietly altered; cast types where you actually need them.
What is the JSONL option?
Newline-delimited JSON: one JSON object per line instead of a single array. It is the format most data pipelines and log processors expect, because each line can be read and written independently without parsing the whole file.
