About this tool

Move tabular data between the formats that turn up in everyday work: JSON from an API, CSV from a spreadsheet, a Markdown table for documentation, and an HTML table for a page. Everything is normalised through one internal representation, so the result is consistent whichever pair of formats you use.

How to use it

  1. 1Paste your data and let the format be detected, or pick it yourself.
  2. 2Choose the output format you want.
  3. 3Copy the result, or swap the direction to convert it again.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of data can it convert?

Tabular data — anything that is naturally a set of rows with named or positional columns. That covers the vast majority of JSON arrays of objects, spreadsheets, Markdown tables and HTML tables. Deeply nested JSON is flattened only one level, because a tree has no honest representation in a table.

Why is my nested JSON turned into strings?

Because a table cell can only hold one value. When a field contains an object or an array, the tool writes it as compact JSON text inside the cell rather than dropping it or flattening it silently. You can see exactly what is there and decide how to handle it.

Does the Markdown output escape pipe characters?

Yes, and it converts line breaks inside a cell to the HTML line break tag. A cell whose text contains a pipe would otherwise split the table into extra columns, and a cell containing a newline would break the table entirely — both are silent corruption that only shows up when the page is rendered.
