About this tool
Cut a portrait to a standard ID photo size, replace the background with the white, blue or red usually required, and nudge the framing so the head sits correctly in the frame. The exported JPEG carries a real DPI value in its metadata, which print shops read to work out the physical print size — without it, a file with the right pixels can still come out the wrong size on paper.
How to use it
- 1Drop a portrait photo with a fairly plain background.
- 2Choose the size you need, pick a background colour and adjust the zoom and vertical position until the guide lines look right.
- 3Download the JPEG — it is written at the chosen DPI for printing.
Frequently asked questions
Does this guarantee my photo will be accepted?
No, and no tool can. Authorities reject photos for reasons a program cannot judge — expression, eyewear, head covering, image age. This tool only gets the dimensions, background colour and framing into the right shape; always check the current requirements of the specific office you are applying to.
Why does the DPI setting matter if the pixels are the same?
Pixels alone do not determine print size. A 300 DPI value in the file tells the printer that 300 of those pixels belong in every inch of paper, so the print comes out at the intended millimetre size. Without the tag, print software assumes 72 DPI and produces a print more than four times too large.
What do the guide lines show?
The horizontal lines mark the usual head-height band used by Chinese ID photo standards, and the vertical line marks the centre for the nose. They are drawn as an overlay and are never included in the downloaded file.
